Our mission
The Bulgarian Emergency Surgery and Trauma Society (BESTS) is a non-profit scientific association that advances emergency medical care — and above all, the qualification of Bulgarian surgeons and traumatologists. To carry out our educational and scientific initiatives, we appeal for the support of colleagues, partners and like-minded friends. Every donation is invested entirely in:
- Training the next generation — funding courses in emergency surgery and modern trauma management for young surgeons, traumatologists and emergency physicians, plus scholarships for research, congress participation and publications.
- Hands-on simulation — specialised simulators and medical models for simulation-based training centres.
- ATLS in Bulgaria — delivering ATLS® (Advanced Trauma Life Support), certified by the American College of Surgeons — BESTS holds the sole licence to run ATLS courses for physicians and instructors in Bulgaria (11th edition).
- Knowledge & standards — developing national consensus statements, guidelines and recommendations, opening access to global standards, and producing specialised literature and monographs.
